Drass: The 77th Republic Day was celebrated with great patriotic fervour and enthusiasm in Drass subdivision like other parts of the nation. Despite harsh climatic conditions and minus temperature in the 2nd coldest inhabited places in the world, the celebrations were held at the playground of Government Higher Secondary School Drass. On the occasion, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate Drass, Shri Vishal Attri, unfurled the national tricolour.
The event was graced by several dignitaries, including Councillor Bhimbat Constituency Abdul Wahid, Councillor Rambirpora Constituency Abdul Samad, sectoral officers, senior citizens, Nambardars of villages, Sarpanches, and a large gathering of the general public.The ceremonial March past was conducted by the Police Contingent, NCC Cadets of Government Higher Secondary School Bhimbat, NCC Cadets of Government Higher Secondary School Drass, and the Girls’ Contingent of Model Public School Muradbagh Drass. The parade was led by Parade Commander Mr. Mohammad Illyass SI, who marched ahead of the troops.
Following the march past, vibrant cultural programmes were presented by students from various schools along with karate participants. In the march past competition, NCC Government Higher Secondary School Drass secured first position, the Girls’ Contingent of Model Public School Muradbagh secured second position, and NCC Government Higher Secondary School Bhimbat secured third position.
Similarly, in the cultural programmes Model Public School Muradbagh Drass secured first position, Government Higher Secondary School Drass secured second position, while Government Higher Secondary School Bhimbat secured third position. After the prize distribution ceremony, consolation prizes were also awarded to employees from various departments and others in recognition of their best services.
On the occasion, SDM Drass Shri Vishal Attri expressed his gratitude to the general public for their participation despite the harsh climatic conditions.
